POSITION OVERVIEW

With support from the Greater Texas Foundation, APIE will embark on the final year of a three-year project designed to support the development of the P-TECH program model at Akins Early College High School. The overarching goals of the project are to design and develop a comprehensive and replicable program model and framework that includes the following: (1) systematic administrative, implementation and evaluation processes, (2) a twenty-first-century workforce-based career mentoring and internship program and (3) an intensive academic support and college knowledge development program. This is a unique opportunity to be a part of a project that will contribute to the growing body of knowledge and resources designed to support the development of effective dual-credit programs.

This is a full-time exempt position with benefits. The compensation range for this position is $58,000-$60,000 annually and is based upon the successful candidate’s education, skills, experience, and potential for contribution towards the mission of Austin Partners in Education.

POSITION SUMMARY

The P-TECH Program Research and Project Manager will lead the development of a comprehensive, evidence-based program model that provides the framework and method to implement P-TECH programs successfully. This position reports to APIE’s Executive Director.

 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Research and Grant Resource Development (65% capacity)

  • Lead the design and development of a P-TECH program model, framework, and method that can be implemented by P-TECH campuses across Texas
  • Research and document best, promising and emerging practices related to the execution of instructional, academic, and work-based learning support models for ECHS and P-TECH schools
  • Conduct key interviews with leading dual credit and industry practitioners and experts to inform development of P-TECH program model
  • Develop and implement dissemination strategy of program model
  • Collaborate with external evaluator to design and implement project evaluation

Administration and Grant Reporting (20% capacity)

  • Oversee the strategic direction of the project, including strategic changes in project scope or assignment across the team
  • Develop and manage project scope, timeline, milestones and deliverables based on project proposal
  • Assess and evaluate strategic and tactical decisions to ensure project outcomes align with project’s overall vision despite changes to the operating environment
  • Provide timely updates on project progress and challenges to APIE leadership team
  • Develop a project communication plan and coordinate communications of project work effort to all levels of project stakeholders
  • Maintain detailed data and project narratives of goals, objectives and outcomes for reporting purposes
  • Collaborate with APIE staff to ensure reporting requirements are submitted in an accurate and timely manner
  • Document all plans, processes, procedures, and lessons learned during the project for standardization and knowledge transfer

Student Support Programming and Management (10% capacity)

  • Provide assistance to Program Specialist in student support strategy development and implementation
  • Communicate student support strategy and updates to campus administration
  • Serve on Akins ECHS advisory board in student support capacity

Student Preparation for Work-based Learning Activities (5%)

  • Manage communications with campus and district administration regarding APIE’s scope and capacity in supporting work-based learning activities
 
MINIMUM SKILLS & QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Master’s Degree in Education, Public Policy or related field

  • At least 3+ years experience in secondary or postsecondary education

  • Experience in secondary and/or postsecondary research and/or program design

  • Demonstrate knowledge in secondary and postsecondary education policy

  • Demonstrate understanding of the dual-credit, Early College High School and P-TECH programs

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills

  • Exceptional organizational and analytical skills

  • Exceptional skills at processing and integrating feedback

  • Demonstrate strong project and process management skills

  • Demonstrate the ability to set priorities to accomplish goals, eliminate roadblocks and create focus

  • Demonstrate the ability to solve difficult problems and deal with ambiguity

  • Demonstrate the ability to build consensus through strong working relationships and exceptional follow-through skills

  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills in the areas of collaboration, team participation, creative problem-solving, conflict resolution, collaborative planning, and decision-making processes
