We are officially one month away from the Austin Marathon! The Marathon received formal approval from the City of Austin and will be held on Sunday, April 25! The event exceeds Austin’s COVID-19 guidelines as described in the approved COVID-19 Mitigation plan, which is available to view here. As part of the event’s safety strategies, participation capacity has been reduced by 53%. Both the Austin Half Marathon and the KXAN Simple Health 5K have a maximum capacity and are expected to sell out. Be sure to register as soon as possible if you’re interested in running this year!

APIE will once again be manning an aid station for the Austin (half) Marathon, and we are looking for volunteers! We will be at Aid Station #5, located at the Morning Star Trading Company at 1919 South First Street from 6:00 to 9:30 a.m. Volunteers will help set up, organize, and distrubute drinks to athletes on the course. They also cheer on the runners and keep the aid station area clean and safe for the athletes. All volunteers will be required to wear masks and social distancing will be enforced. APIE will have coffee, water, and snacks available for volunteers. We are happy to provide a participation certificate for your volunteer hours if needed. You can sign up to volunteer here, and if you have any questions, please contact Ashley Yeaman at ayeaman@austinpartners.org.

Don’t forget: we are still fundraising for the Austin Marathon on our GoFundMe page! All the money raised will support our work with Austin ISD students. You can still join our fundraising team, even if you aren’t running this year. If you’d like to make a donation to a team member’s fundraiser, click on “The Team,” then the individual to give toward their campaign.

We appreciate your support and look forward to seeing you on race day!
