Dear APIE Friends and Supporters,

If you’re reading this newsletter, chances are that you agree with the notion that caring adults showing up for students makes a big difference.  I couldn’t agree more and always love when we get our program evaluation results back and can see both the qualitative and quantitative data from our students that support this theory!  Not only do our students tell us that our APIE Programs are helping them, but our evaluation results show us that their academic self-confidence and learning improved.  We’ve also seen that our students’ attendance at school is better than those who do not receive APIE support.  There is no doubt that our awesome volunteers and staff make students want to come school more. Because you show up, they show up!

We are so fortunate to have hundreds of dedicated volunteers working alongside our quality staff to deliver individualized academic and mentoring support to over 2,000 students every week.  Do not doubt that you are making a difference for our students, the data doesn’t lie!

Stay tuned for the release of our full annual Program Evaluation report in the coming weeks…and in the meantime, let’s keep showing up for students!

With gratitude,

Cathy Jones, Ph.D. | Executive Director

The Austin Marathon is This Sunday

Time to lace up those running shoes! The Austin Marathon will take place bright and early this Sunday, February 18. APIE will once again be at Mile 5 of the race, and we’re excited to have a great crew of volunteers this year.

Thanks to you, we have raised over $18,000 so far to support Austin ISD students. You can help us move the needle even higher by making a gift on our main GivenGain campaign page or by supporting a specific funder’s campaign (scroll to the end of the page to see all funders).

We’re grateful for your support, which helps us go the distance for local students. We couldn’t do this important work without you.

We spoke with GEAR UP Specialist Odera Anyasinti about how the partnership began and the positive impact mentoring and volunteering have had on students’ lives.
