Estimuladores de la autoestima! \u00a1BFF&#039;s!<\/p>\n<p>Estas son solo algunas formas de describir a los mentores de APIE que trabajan con estudiantes en todo Austin ISD.<\/p>\n<p>A diferencia de los programas de capacitaci\u00f3n en el aula de APIE, los mentores desempe\u00f1an un papel voluntario no acad\u00e9mico. Se re\u00fanen con los estudiantes durante su per\u00edodo de almuerzo y participan en actividades como jugar, dibujar, leer y compartir historias, pero principalmente participan en la conversaci\u00f3n. Al pasar tiempo constantemente con estos ni\u00f1os y escucharlos, crean confianza y sirven como confidentes, solucionadores de problemas y caja de resonancia. Ser mentor de un estudiante puede ayudar a desarrollar la autoestima, aumentar la probabilidad de que un ni\u00f1o complete la escuela y persiga la educaci\u00f3n postsecundaria, disminuir los comportamientos destructivos y aumentar el potencial acad\u00e9mico.<\/p>\n<p>Los mentores de APIE se re\u00fanen con sus estudiantes una vez a la semana, generalmente durante 30 minutos a la hora del almuerzo, durante todo el a\u00f1o escolar. Muchos de nuestros mentores contin\u00faan trabajando con sus estudiantes a medida que avanzan en la escuela; <em>Algunas relaciones comenzaron desde el segundo grado y continuaron hasta el \u00faltimo a\u00f1o de la escuela secundaria del estudiante.<\/em>. En 2012-13, aproximadamente 770 mentores de APIE sirvieron a estudiantes en 118 escuelas primarias, intermedias y secundarias de AISD.
