Development Coordinator//

The Development Coordinator will support the Development Director in all aspects of fund development for the organization with a particular focus on grant writing and all associated activities. S/he will gain valuable experience in a nonprofit environment focused on promoting academic success for students in underserved communities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Research and pursue funding opportunities to support APIE’s programs
  • Research and prioritize grant funding opportunities
  • Draft grant reports, letters of interest, and grant proposals
  • Maintain documentation of grant research
  • Complete stewardship and donor acknowledgement processes in Salesforce
  • Steward existing individual donors
  • Track grant deadlines
  • Track and acknowledge in-kind donations in Salesforce
  • Maintain records in Salesforce
  • Edit and proofread development department work
  • Assist with event planning and execution
  • Attend workplace giving fairs and other donor solicitation events
  • Contribute to monthly newsletter
  • Communicate professionally with donors and stakeholders

SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Interest in improving academic achievement for children in underserved schools
  • 2-5 years of experience grant writing, major donor stewardship, and/or fundraising
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with a particular penchant for crafting engaging narratives through detail-oriented writing
  • Ability to multitask and work independently to meet goals and deadlines
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
  • Database skills essential; Salesforce skills preferred
  • Ability to work well under deadline

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in social science, communication, journalism, literature, or English preferred
  • 2-5 years nonprofit fundraising experience preferred
