Compañeros en Lectura      CEL - North        Graham, Pillow, Wooldridge, Wooten, Andrews      CEL - Central        Norman, Blackshear, Sanchez      CEL - South        Becker, Travis, Allison, Dawson, Widen, Perez      Training schedule Compañeros en lectura (CEL) operates in second grade Spanish bilingual Austin ISD classes and provides volunteers, teachers, and students a fun and structured way to help children become stronger readers. Volunteers meet with their own small group of students in the classroom every week. All materials are in Spanish and provided. Teachers are in the classroom and available for support. Program includes opportunities to: Practice reading and discussing a variety of literature, including poetry Provide students with feedback on their reading fluency Engage in word study activities Volunteer Commitment: Program meets for 45 minutes once a week. Volunteers should have an intermediate level of Spanish. Volunteer on your own or consider adopting a class with your co-workers or friends. Training is provided. School Locations: School locations are available city-wide. We can find a school to fit your schedule and location preferences!
