School Connections Assistant (Part-time)//

Austin Partners in Education (APIE) is an education nonprofit that delivers innovative, volunteer-driven programs designed to improve student academic performance.  We are looking for the right person to join our dynamic APIE team and serve as a part-time School Connections Assistant.  This position will be an integral member of the School Connections team which provides volunteer, mentor and partner programs for the 127 schools in the Austin Independent School District (AISD).  The School Connections Assistant will play an important role in providing administrative and training support, and working to enhance and improve these programs. 

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  •       Provide informational & procedural support and customer service to volunteers, AISD staff and others, via email, phone and in-person
  •       Update and maintain contact information and activity records in database system
  •       Create and edit email templates to be used in volunteer and school communications
  •       Assist in creating, editing and proofreading program materials
  •       Update and help maintain School Connections program manual
  •       Maintain and updating records in Salesforce database program
  •       Assist in the preparation of program reports and documentation
  •       Help design, modify and edit online and in-person trainings
  •       Assist with production of online and written materials that support the mentor and volunteer programs
  •       Research potential locations, organize and schedule trainings for volunteers and AISD staff
  •       Train volunteers to serve as APIE mentors
  •       Train AISD staff on how to work with APIE processes and programs
  •       Assist with logistics, award program and production of annual volunteer appreciation event
  •       Help with other duties as needed 

Required Qualifications:

  •    Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience
  •    Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and multi-task
  •    Proficiency in Microsoft Office, and database knowledge, preferably Salesforce
  •    Comfortable with public speaking and in leading trainings
  •    Good interpersonal communication skills
  •    Ability to communicate with and build relationships with various stakeholders, including community volunteers and AISD staff
  •    Ability to meet deadlines and complete projects in a timely manner
  •    Writing and editing skills
  •    Self-starter, with the ability to work independently and productively
  •    Must be able to travel within the Austin metro area
  •    Flexibility and ability to juggle various projects simultaneously

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  •     Ability to speak and write in Spanish
  •     Proficiency in Salesforce
  •     Passion for education
  •     Experience in working with volunteers
  •     Knowledge of Austin Independent School District

 

This is a 20-hour per week, part-time position.
