Austin Partners in Education (APIE) is an education nonprofit that delivers innovative, volunteer-driven programs designed to improve student performance.  APIE also provides an avenue for local organizations to become school partners and for community volunteers to serve as mentors and general volunteers in schools across AISD.  

Salesforce Specialist

This position requires a person with Salesforce database administration and development experience who is flexible, detail-oriented, service-minded, and passionate about community service. The ideal candidate will collaborate and communicate with the various program staff including but not limited to Math Classroom Coaching, College Readiness and Mentoring in providing the proposed solutions for their specific Salesforce needs. The ideal candidate is able to communicate technical details to coworkers with varying technical backgrounds. A positive attitude is a must.


Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Administration and development of our Salesforce database platform
  • Project manage the transition from Salesforce classic to Lightning to include all the technical changes and provide training for the staff
  • Ensure data integrity, focusing on managing duplicates and adhering to data standards practices
  • Maintain internal documentation of system configuration and administrative processes
  • Work closely with Programs staff to understand needs and implement requests
  • Experience with SFDC administrative tools such as managing users, data management, generating reports, dashboards, communication templates, tasks and events
  • Experience with creating Salesforce.com Apex triggers on customized objects, writing Apex classes, Apex controllers, test classes and developing Visual Force Pages
  • Keep abreast of Salesforce releases, features and best practices. Make recommendations to management regarding implementation as appropriate.
  • Maintain and update website using CMS/Drupal
  • Evaluate activities; make recommendations for and implement improvements
  • In-office technical support for software and equipment
  • Provide support to Coordinator in the processing of about 6,000 volunteers annually for a variety of school programs
  • Provide support to Coordinator in managing contracts, including cloud systems, email, PC’s, telephone systems etc.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, and 1-3yrs. relevant work experience
  • Experience as a Salesforce database administrator and developer
  • Experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Experience with Visualforce and Apex development
  • Experience with scripting programming languages (like Python)
  • Project Management experience
  • Proven experience defining and improving processes and procedures
  • Strong attention to detail, but with an ability to think strategically
  • A positive, collaborative, problem-solving approach to work
  • Proven ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities and deadlines
  • Salesforce.com Administrator certification is a plus

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience or ability to learn Salesforce Lightning
  • Experience with full-stack web development
  • Experience maintaining and updating website using CMS/Drupal
  • Knowledge of the Austin Independent School District a plus
